Horsin' around

This past weekend the kids and I met Dennis in Hanksville. He was looking at a job there so he had gone ahead of us. Our friend Cody was bringing his Dad's cows off the mountain so on Saturday Dennis and I decided to go help. We haven't had the horses out for a while, so needless to say, both of us were sore and tired. It is a lot harder on your body than you would think. We used to ride several times a month but with our busy schedule, we don't get down there as much as we would like. Saturday night we had a big bbq with a bunch of friends at our house and then went over to another friends house to visit. It was nice weather so we stood around outside and ended up playing a guessing game with the songs on my Ipod. It was a race to see who could guess the name of the song first. I had all my 80's rock on so it was a real blast from the past for everyone.
It is a whole different world when we go down there. There is always something going on: horse rides, 4 wheeler rides, camping, lake trips or scouting for the "Big One" on the Henry Mountains. It seems like we run non stop. Everyone always plans these big adventures but we never make it too far from town. We are always waiting on someone or we just end up stopping too much to talk along the way.
I stayed up waaaaaaay too late on Saturday and wanted to sleep in so I didn't help them brand the cows on Sunday. I stayed home and baked some cup cakes for Garrett's B-day. I figured I should do something on the actual day even though we were celebrating it the next day back in town with his friends. Dennis went up early with the horses and then the kids and I met him up there and that is where we let the kids play on the horses. They love to ride. I couldn't get Garrett off. He had been informing me all day that it was his birthday and that Dad had told him he could do whatever he wanted. I was real proud of all of them. They jumped on and took control. No fear there!! It was a good weekend.
